I called

for WV

by Duncan Dwelle, 2014

I called
and you were there
to catch my soul laid bare
basking in the evening warmth
of your interrogating gaze
through words which pierced
and parted clear
my haze.

I felt
and still feel now
that you alone, somehow
have been placed into my path
to confirm the course I choose.
My heart is mine
to shelter or
to bruise.

No blame
for that is yours.
When from me emotion pours,
you hear me, listening well,
flashing mirrors on my soul,
reflecting glints,
make fragments feel
a whole.
